Your data

Delete your Fein account

You can delete it yourself in the app in under a minute. It takes effect at once and cannot be undone. No app? Email us and a person deletes it for you.

In the app

  1. Open Fein and tap the gear at the top of the map to open Settings.
  2. Tap your name at the top (Profile and account).
  3. Tap Delete account at the bottom, read what will be deleted, and confirm twice.
  4. If you signed in with Apple, Apple asks you to confirm once more.

Deletion is immediate. We email you to confirm that it is done. Export your data first (Profile and account › Download my data) if you want a copy.

Without the app

Email support@feinak.com with the subject “Delete my account”, from the email address on your account if you can. If you can’t (for example, you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email), write from any address and tell us the name on your account and the name of a group you’re in, or the phone number you added for SOS. If that matches an account, we send a confirmation request to that account’s email address, and you reply to it. A person on the Fein team deletes your account and replies to confirm. We may first ask you to confirm the request from your account’s address, so that no one else can delete your account for you.

What is deleted, and what stays

Deleted at once: your profile and photo, your group memberships, your location history and trips, your Places, your SOS and help requests with their chats, your emergency contact(s), your Lost & Found reports and sightings with their photos and conversations, your consent records and devices, and your error reports and data export archives. If you are the last owner of a group, ownership passes to another member; if you are its only member, the group is deleted with you.

What stays: messages you sent stay in their conversations for the other people in them, no longer linked to your account, unless you deleted them for everyone first; a cover photo you set for a group stays with it; delivery records stay with your identifiers removed; a record that your account was deleted, with your account ID, stays to show that we carried out your request; a report you sent, or one about you, stays, no longer linked to your account, until the report is a year old; our hosting provider’s backups expire after 7 days. A plan you pay for keeps renewing until you cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings, and if a plans screen ever opened in the app, your profile at Adapty stays until you email us to delete it; we ask Adapty to delete it once no plan you paid for is still running.
